Founded in 2008, Et Moriemur is a metal quartet from Prague (Czech Republic). Cupio Dissolvi is their debut album revolving around the theme of suicide. The CD contains nine depressive and melancholic songs accompanied by Doom & Death Metal vibe. With its old-school production, Cupio Dissolvi sounds like it could have been recorded in the 90s when the scene was peaking.
The lyrical content is not as diverse as I hoped, but with quite original blend of German, English, Italian, Latin and Slavic languages. It sorts of add a new dimension to this otherwise solid Death/Doom/Black/Ambient Metal opus. The whole atmosphere is sinister and desperate conveying the idea of the withering of life. The whole concept is highlighted even more by desperate vocals and existential lyrics.
As read above, this isn’t your typical death & doom offering, yet it still embodies all of the more prevalent keystones of the sub-genre. In other words; Et Moriemur is heavier than a traditional doom band, but more heartfelt and emotional than death metal usually stands for.
Thus, Cupio Dissolvi is also a very mature release that will mainly fans of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema, As Autumn Calls etc.
