Lord Volture: Never Cry Wolf

 

Lord Volture is a classic heavy metal hailing from The Netherlands. The band was formed only a couple of years ago but already established themselves as force to be reckoned with. The band had an explosive take-off in 2010 with the release of their debut album Beats Of Thunder. A couple of years later, the quintet is now back with their sophomore release, an 11-tracker album, Never Cry Wolf.

On this latest opus the band is still playing their trademark traditional Heavy Metal enriched with various elements of Power & Thrash Metal and Hard Rock. Their enthusiasm and energy put forward is something to admire. There’s something magical bringing these five relatively young musicians together.

There’re many nice and interesting ideas yet to be implemented in their sound, but the basics are in place. Catchy choruses, nice leading melodies, upbeat thrashy elements, pounding bass, shredding guitar soli and high register vocals – you can find it all here. Even the production is very good and fresh-sounding here, helping add this final atmospheric touch to the album.

I would suggest them to focus more on a classic Heavy Metal with more epic moments and less upbeat thrash songs, because the first suits them better. Undisputed remains the fact that we are dealing here with five very skilled Dutch musicians that are capable of delivering a very good performance and producing some awesome catchy melodic power tunes. For all who bear a heart of steel; Lord Volture is a definite must!
